Gourd Workshops in Pinetop, Arizona

Get rid of your end of summer, overheated blues by coming to cool Pinetop and creating gourd art!
You will have THREE experienced instructors with a total between us of 42 years working with gourds.

Between us, we have tried just about everything on a gourd, learned from the best, found our own styles and have all been instructors for years. Whether you are a beginner or an old hand looking for some new tricks, these classes will be fun for you!
We couldn't decide what specific classes to offer so we are giving you the chance to customize your class. On either day, you can choose to make a mask, kachina, advanced teneriffe weaving or a large vessel with inlay. We'll have all your supplies and choices of gourds. We will bring along some fun inlay materials including crushed glass, heishi beads, mosaics set in a new texture medium Margaret has created and other interesting items to provide texture and style. For those of you wanting to learn how to create masks & kachinas, we'll have plenty of feathers so you can learn the best ways to layout and attach your headdresses. If you have done some teneriffe weaving but want to pick up some additional layout ideas and stitches, this is your chance. If you are a beginner you can make a fabulous vessel with some inlay items to make your project look like you are a pro!
We'll have woodburners set up as well as dremels and an air carving tool. If you have tools of your own, feel free to bring them. If you want to purchase a woodburner, let us know when you call. Some limited supplies will be available for sale at the classes.

Cost: Either day $79 or both days for $150 (This is a bargain compared to past & future prices for these classes in Phoenix area)
Accomodations: many motels in the area are listed at: www.Pinetoplakesidechamber.com and go to accomodations page. Nearest motels are: Super 8, Holiday Inn Express, Best Western of Pinetop and Woodland Inn & Suites. All these are only about a mile from the house!
